An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 shook the Island of Sumatra

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 shook the Indonesian island of Sumatra, the Geophysical Institute of the United States reported, quoted by Reuters and TASS.

There is no evidence of injuries or material damage. No alarm has been announced by the Hawaiian Tsunami Warning Center in the Pacific Ocean.
 
The epicenter of the quake was at sea at a depth of 10 km, 246 km southwest of the town of Padang with a population of 840,000 on the island of Sumatra.
